Micron canisters - loose rivets
These titanium canisters have support brackets that are riveted on (instead of having the conventional steel band around the canister for support). I noticed that the left canister rivets were getting quite loose after only two thousand kilometers. I removed and disassembled the canister, drilled out the old rivets and installed new rivets with a proper tight fit.
When new I noticed the riveted brackets were not installed with a tight fit. Vibrations and road bumps caused the rivets to loosen even further. I expect the right canister support bracket will need to be re-riveted eventually (although Micron did offer to repair these - problem is that I would be without for a few weeks or more - riding season is too short!). But I really like these canisters in spite of what happened - the look and sound!
I wonder if anybody else who has Micron canisters has experienced this problem?
