ST3s ABS - Squishy Brakes
The brakes on my 2007 ST3s ABS have a peculiar issue. When I press the front brake lever there is a lot of travel until the brakes start to engage with any great amount of force. If I release the lever and immediately press it again the brake engages a lot sooner with less lever travel and with a lot more force. Basically, on the second pull they engage with the kind of force I would expect from Brembos, and with a similar amount of force to my Monster.
The brakes have been bled at the calipers, ABS module (it's a high point under the seat) and at the master cylinder. A small amount of air escaped from the master cylinder and the brakes felt somewhat better after this, but the lever is still spongey on the first pull and firms up significantly on the second pull.
Any ideas what the problem could be? What do I need to do to fix this? I have tried the usual channels but the problem has persisted so I'm turning to the collective wisdom of the board for help. The bike now has 7,000kms on it but the brake issue has been ongoing since new. I'd like to get it sorted out once and for all.
Thanks for your assistance.
