Hi Paul, do you mean the # on the frame, or the # on the ownership?
I've owned mine since new, and the ownership only has the frame # without the 860SS prefix. This was back in the days before government computers started demanding 17 digit Vin#s. Like most civil servants, licence bureau clerks would try to do as little as possible. I had one refuse to retype the ownership on one my cars when she got the vin wrong. Went through hell when I sold it a few years back.
