Radiator repair?

Has anybody had any luck getting a radiator repaired/rebuilt? Where? I can't bear to go to the dealer anymore to ask the price of a new parts.

Hello Mark,
I know that some radiator shops specialize in repairing aluminum radiators .Have you checked with any Corvette specialty repair shops.

The old Dominion Rad on Gladstone can fix aluminum rads assuming the rad is not a total loss........
I have had good experience with them.

Also, give Bob Johnson welding a call. They do all kinds of work there and they are nothing short of top notch. They are located off Preston.

Thanks. I'll pay a visit to the local guys first. The rad is a bit crumpled... but not leaking (yet). As far has Mylers (www.motorcycleradiators.com) goes... any issues shipping parts for repair to the USA (taxes, brokerage, etc)?

I find shipping for repair and replacement to the USA through CPS and return through USPS...is always a gamble getting nailed with import taxes that are assessed based upon the declared value. Even when clearly declaring repair ....it basically lies in the hands of customs officer to assess the package.....

Just like anyone else they have good days and bad days. If you are planning on shipping the rad to the US expect on paying import taxes on return....if it arrives with none...you are ahead of the game.

Beware of hidden and questionable brokerage fees charged by some delivery service providers for cross-border transactions. I've found that the CPS and the USPS do not levy such fees. But individual results may vary.

I definately do not want to get dinged BOTH ways with high brokerage fees (yes, UPS, I am talking about you), but, I am also worried about getting taxed on the insured/declared/retail value and not just the GST/PST on the cost of the repairs. I would prefer to get the name of someone in the Ottawa-Toronto area, who has proven to do good work on aluminum rads.
