DOCC Track School Grade?
2014 was year one for initiating an entirely in-house, club organised and delivered track safety and rider skills training plan run at our trackday events. Thanks to our events specialist and riding marshal coordinator Stweart Anderson, Media director Brad Monk and Brad Harris we were on location to provide guidance to all newcomers with our objective firstly to assist new riders learn the track and the track safety rules in action. I can't thank these individuals enough for the excellent service to the trackday riding cause they provided.
Now please let us know did anyone who attended a DOCC track event spend some time with our designated instructors (green vests) or feel inclined to offer an opinion regarding our training delivery?
Would you give the plan a grade?
Could you see the club extending the conversation beyond track newcomers as riding skills camp open to any registered DOCC rider?
What do you think?
With thanks

Re: DOCC Track School Grade?
I know I would make use of some schooling if it was offered. I have had marshals help and they do a great job but they have other duties out there and some one who could even do a session with a rider would be helpful.

Re: DOCC Track School Grade?
My 2014 season was shortened because on May 26th, I fell with my bike while entering a sharp corner on the Mont-Tremblant race track (the corner under the bridge for those who know this track).
This means, in my case, that I would probably benefit from more track ride schooling since I want to go back participating to track days in 2015.
For me the important question would then be : at which cost ?
If some DOCC marshals would offer some kind of riding skills sessions to novice riders (and to less novice as well) during the track sessions at a REASONABLE price, then it would be a very appreciated service offered by our Club.

Re: DOCC Track School Grade?
Hi,
I had an opportunity to help a couple riders this year, when the green vesties were busy. I can say that the people I assisted loved the help. I believe the confidence in their own abilities increased over a session or two of critiquing. Also it helped point them in the right direction.
For one guy, you couldn't pull the smile off his face.
I know people helped me early on, and that stopped a few of my bad mistakes from becoming dangerous habits.
I give the green vestie's an A+
