tach going nuts.... where to start

Postby zxmarc » Thu Aug 13, 2009 8:43 pm

My tach is going crazy... at idle it bounces between 3 and 5000 rpm, if i give it gas it will bounce up to redline even though it's not turning more than 5000.

i've looked in my haynes but all i can see is a wire from CPU.

is this a problem that shows up a lot? any fixes???

thanks

I have 2 tachometers now that do the same thing. I've been told that there is a loose connection within the tach that causes it. I've been told that there is a way to fix it, but it involves opening up the sealed unit which I'm not inclined to do.
