temp gauge readings

i have a ST4 which shows around 177 on the temp gauge for normal running as soon as i hit any traffic in goes up to 195 sometimes 200, could someone tell me the normal running temperature for highway and then city. when the gauge touched 200 i expected the fan to come on it didn't, also at what temperature would the rad fan normally come on.

Hey, my ST3 runs at 76 c on the highway and never above 103 c in town. The fan starts at 102 c and shuts down at 98 c. hope this helps

My Duc 2003 ss 1000 ds has read 294 (F) stuck on QE pl (queen lizzie parking lot). I have been told that is not too far off normal :shock:

The highest oil temperature reading I've seen is 125 C (257 F) in stop-and-go traffic on a 30 C day. 8)

When the oil temperature hits 160 C (320 F) the high temperature warning light is supposed to light up. :!:

So watch out if you ever get caught in a traffic jam in the Sahara/Gobi Desert/Death Valley on a hot summer day. :roll:
