Yes it is because of the insurance company. It is a condition of the policy now.
No my 996 doesn't have an immobilizer. I even checked in the owners manual and there is nothing about it having one. That is why the insurance company wants an alarm system. Well it is a good idea also a small investment that could prevent a lot of heart ache.
I am looking for one that already has the wiring harness so that I don't have to cut into any wires. I found an alarm at http://www.advancedmotorsports.com/ in the USA. It claims to be a pluggable alarm. I don't know what kind of alarm it is. I have emailed asking more information but no reply yet. Also found one in Canada by a company called Talon. It is a good alarm and good price but just like the Scorpion you have to cut wires to connect it.
cheers,

Alarm system wire harness?
Can anyone tell me where I can find a Ducati factory alarm harness that will fit a 00 Duc 996.
I just got the Talon T2200i alarm but it does not have a wire harness for the Duc. So I would like to find a wire harness that can plug in so that I don't have to cut any wires.
Any information would be a great help.
