Anyone with R2525-10 (or similar) spark plugs spares ?

Hi all,

Well I am in d##p sh#t, got my engine back from rebuilt, been told to use standard plugs, and bingo, the plugs touch the pistons... "Fortunately", the bike did not start (well the spark plug gap is no more), but that means I am likely not able to show up @ Mosport on monday....

UNLESS, someone in Ottawa area, or someone going to Mosport and who reads this forum in time, has a spare set... I am looking for the flat type who allows a higher piston deck so there is no contact. Reference is 2525-10 or 2349-10, or actually anything "flat" that may work.

I keep my fingers crossed.... but I am not very optimistic on this. :(

P.S. Oh forgot to mention I tried a few shops (including Ottawa good times) and they don't carry those...

Problem solved, big misunderstanding on the spark plugs type with the engine builder...

Anyway, bike is running now.... But still won't be @ Mosport.... :( Hope you guys enjoyed it, and will enjoy it tomorrow for those who stay...

A simple fix would have been to stack plug gasket washers under the plug 'til you got the desired clearance (if it's the type that uses gaskets).

What type of motor are we talking about?

We are talking about a 996SPS engine with bigger valves, flowed heads and Pistal High compression pistons.

I actually don't need the type I was mentioning before (r2525-10), all I needed was a plug without an extended tip... I bought the champion RA59GC but could have used the NGK D8EA as well.... Confusion came from the fact I had been told to use normal plugs, which to me meant the type recommended for the 996 (DCPR....), but for the builder, normal meant cheap non extended tip ones.... :roll:

Anyway, problem fixed.... I still have to break it in though, and it is a beast to start, I need to wire my truck battery, and even with that, it is not for the faint hearted... So if you see a guy on a trackday with a 20 pounds battery hooked to the ducati, that would be me :) Well I hope it will improve as the engine breaks in and I still need to adjust the throttle bodies...
