Hardware inquiry

Postby Jonny Cannon » Thu Jan 04, 2007 9:46 pm

Before I delve further, I feel I should ask first, as I'm sure someone knows off the top of their head - what material is the hardware for a 748 made of?

By "hardware", I mean engine bolts, mounting bolts, bodywork bolts, etc.

Are they simply aluminum? Chromoly? Steel?

Thank-you.

I would imagine the engine bolts and nuts are made of carbon steel having a certain grade and would probably comply with the requirements of ASTM A193 (bolts) and ASTM A194 (nuts). Or possibly some SAE standards (information for reference only, not for design).
