Postby 4theloveofducati » Sat Jul 07, 2012 1:29 am

Pretty simple request maybe some one could help with here, has any one got a picture of there safety wired oil filter, an where they attach the wire to? Have been runnin into a small backing off issue with mine an know the basics of doing it, just looking for a visual aide!!

And any info for a dre drilled drain plug would be good, I don't want a cheap quality one.

The most common method is to put a hose clamp of sufficient size on the filter and safety wire the clamp to the motor. Some folks drill a small hole in the skirt in the motor that surrounds the filer opening.

Drilling the motor is not on the top of my list of things to do. I would rather drill a bolt close to filter. As for the gear clamp on the filter that was the route chosen in the first place, unless I get my hands on a k & n filter :D

K&N oil filters have a weld nut with a pre drilled hole. Then just drill a close by bolt and you're done.
