Simple Voltmeter
When the regulator on my 916 packed up, I started looking for a small onboard voltmeter to check the battery voltage.
Martel Meters in Hew Hampshire makes a small (.84 X 1.71 inches) LCD meter -
The meter comes with a small threaded screw at the back where the two wires exit, which makes mounting simple. You can order them online for US $42.30, with a zener diode wired in to protect the meter from voltage spiking (Part 80311) or without. Martel says these are splashproof, which means you should probably seal the bezel with some silicone.
Current draw is only 3 mA, so no issues with battery drain if you don't ride often.
