Fall Colours Ride..

Postby Ken L » Sat Aug 14, 2010 1:32 pm

I'm thinking Sat (and Sun?) Sept the 25 (and 26th?).
Probably 700k from Oshawa and back, (or 1,000 for two days?).

Thoughts??

One or two days?

If one day: early (like 8am) start to get in a long ride means possibly cool moring temps.
Two days lossens it up some. More like 9-10am start, stay over near Barry's bay, Calabogie etc.

Man, am I having fun!!

Every Wed afternoon for the last month I've been taking off early (it's finally starting to quiet down a bit at the Shop!) and getting in these great long rides. Over 400k every time, on some great roads. Found some new ones that are now on my top 10 list for Ontario! Finally the 1098 has been able to stretch her legs!

From all this I have now a great route that would be a nice, fairly easy, shorter version of the big Fall Colours ride. We could meet in Bowmanville at around 10am, have a ton of fun, and be back to Bowmanville by 4 or 5pm. At that point we could run up to the local East Side Marios or Casey's 1 mile north for some dinner and bench racing.

I'd still say Saturday so we don't run into any Sun eve traffic.

Well, now they're calling for rain Sat, cool but dry Sunday. I tell ya what: Let's make the final call Friday morning.

Sorry, this time of year Mother Nature is a bit un-predictable.

I will be waiting for your final decision.
Which weather report are you following or have found to be the most reliable?

Environment Canada. Also, double-glazed Argon filled square crystal Ball.

Meet at the Shell station on the north side of the 401/Waverley Rd. intersection in Bowmanville..
Note: anyone coming from the East might want to just meet us at the North side of the hwy 37/401 interchange. (the hwy up to Tweed). We should be there approx. 11am.

And yes, any brand is welcome!

Well, something has come up and the ride is off this weekend. Sorry about that.

If the weather hangs in like last fall, we still have lot's of time left.

How about a mid-week ride?

Input S.V.P.
