Cabot trail run -2009?
Just curious. Any chance of a 2009 DOCC cabot trail run?

Re: Cabot trail run -2009?
I might be interested in a run. I'm a little closer to the trail than most, however.
Currently in Port Hawkesbury, NS
(It's a day trip for me now!)
Anyone else out there?

Still in a planning stage but it looks like it's going to happen end of June. We'll keep you posted.

Sweet. Just one of those rides that you have to do once you get up on two wheels. I've been riding my '06 M620 since she was brand new and still haven't made it out there yet. I'm currently trying to get into University, and hoping to study abroad in my second year, so this would be the perfect year for me to head out east (from Oshawa Ontario) to play.

Re: Cabot trail run -2009?
In some ways, I must be a bit spoiled.
I now live about an hour from the 'beginning' of the Cabot Trail. I've done it by car, motorcycle and parts of it on bicycle. It's a really nice ride, but there are many comparable (in my opinion) roads and rides in Atlantic Canada. Those rides also have less traffic and better road conditions. Arguably, the vistas combined with the twisties make a compelling case for the Cabot Trail, but I find the east side of the trail (Ingonish to Englishtown) some of the worst roads I've ever ridden on.
Having said that, I'll rarely turn down an opportunity to ride it and maybe I'll keep the other roads/rides a secret for myself!
Looking forward to getting out this spring and re-discovering the locals roads that I grew up with. Keep me in the loop and let me know if you would like for me to do some legwork on accomodations, restaurants, etc. I know the group did the trip last year, please provide any feedback to us on places to see/places to avoid. I can provide feedback on other important stuff like access to pizza and the liquor store for the 'apres ride'

Re: Cabot trail run -2009?
Hey all,
Just a note, more info can be found regarding the Cabot Trail ride on our East Coast Ducati Club forum, which you can access via our web site at:
Have a look there and you'll see the button for the forum (we call it Desmo East ) - I hope you'll check it out!
I was really happy that Eric Summers posted a note about our club in the General Discussion area earlier this year. True, we're a new independent club for the Maritimes, but we hope to have lots of cross-over from the DOCC and other regions. Some folks were down for the Cabot Ride last year, so hopefully that will be the case again, and maybe some of us will get to a DOCC rally this year.
It's all Desmo - it's all good!
All the best for this season,
Rory Rafuse
President, East Coast Ducati Club

Re: Cabot trail run -2009?
I've just booked my own room for the event and there are still some great lodgings available at the main site in Baddeck, NS - see our forum (or see the post above) for details.
Main venue for lodging will be the Telegraph House, where you can book online at: .
Alternate local accommodations can be found at:
Finally, I'll leave you with this image to think about how much fun the ride could be...
